It’s Time to Change Your Wiper Blades

When wiper blades no longer make proper contact with the windshield surface, they can begin to squeak. You will notice smears or streaks that will reduce driving visibility.

How Often Should You Change Wiper Blades?
You generally want to change your wiper blades every 6-12 months. Weather or other seasonal conditions may require you to change them sooner. Let your eyes decide. Never drive when you cannot properly see out of your windshield.

Replace When Damaged
Check for cracked rubber especially where the rubber meets the glass surface. You may also notice torn or worn down rubber, areas with contamination, or damage to the superstructure. If you see these signs of damage, it may be time to replace your wiper blades.

Replace Them Both!
What if only one wiper blade is causing the problem? Better replace your wiper blades in pairs. Not all wiper blades are created equal. Be sure to purchase matching size, type, and brand of blade. If you are unsure which wiper blades you need for the make and model of your car, consult your owner’s manual.

Good News!
Wiper blades are inexpensive. You can typically find a pair of wiper blades for most vehicles that will only cost you $20 or less. Ask the salesperson if they offer installation. Some auto parts stores will install them free of charge. Don’t forget to check the rear-window wiper blade as well.
